FAQ

  • What Makes Ragdoll Cats so Special?💖
Ragdolls are known for their gentle temperament, silky semi-long coats, and striking blue eyes. They are affectionate, calm, and enjoy human companionship - often following their family members from room to room like a little shadow. They are called "Ragdolls" because of how relaxed and floppy they become when held, just like a soft ragdoll. Unlike many cats, Ragdolls tend to enjoy being held and snuggled, and they usually do well with children, other pets, and first-time cat owners. Ragdolls are indoor-only cats that thrive in loving, stable environments. They are not just pets — they become part of the family. At NEWMOONDOLL, we specialize in raising Ragdolls with loving temperaments, strong health, and beautiful features that match the breed's best qualities.
  • What kind of kitten’s parents are we looking for?
To adopt one of our kittens/cats, you must be over 21 years old, have a stable residence, and be a mature and responsible adult. When considering future homes, the well-being of our kittens is at the top of our consideration. We’ve poured out love and time into nurturing our kittens, so we want to find a loving lifelong home, and capable, caring family for every single one of them . Taking care of a Ragdoll (or more than one) is a task that requires effort, love, and money investment, but you will be rewarded with absolute love and trust and warm companion from these little angels. Because of their very trusting and non-aggressive nature, Ragdolls should be indoor cats only. Before deciding to adopt one from our cattery, please make sure it’s the right kind of cat for you, and thoroughly consider if you are ready to keep your small family member around for more than ten years. Declawing domestic cats is illegal in California.
  • Why is the Adoption Application Necessary?
The application includes questions about your specific needs, so that we can further discuss your adoption, and find the right kitten for your family. It also shows that you will be a responsible parent for our kittens to think through if your family is ready to welcome a new member. You can read the application question here in Chinese and English. Please fill it out on the page or send it to me via WeChat. For more details, please refer to our Adoption Pack.

  • How to choose your Baby ? 😺
After applying for the adaptation, and communicating with us, if we may have a suitable kitten for you, we will ask you to pay a $200 deposit to reserve a place in our queue. We keep a record on all the reservations customers have made, so please wait patiently until we let you know that you can pick a kitten. The $200 deposit is non-refundable. The deposit is also permanently valid until you’ve picked a satisfying kitten. The amount of the deposit will be deducted from our current price when you pay the balance. If you are adopting an available kitten/cat instead of reserving for one, we still need you to pay a deposit so that we can arrange for the spay/neuter surgery and health check.
  • What are the rules regarding deposits?
To help serious families reserve their chosen kitten in a fair and efficient way, we have set the following deposit policy: 1) Deposit Amount • The waiting list deposit for each kitten is $200 USD. • It will be applied toward the total price and is not an extra fee. 2) How to Pay the Deposit • We accept Zelle, bank transfer, • Please include the kitten’s number or description in your payment note for easy reference. 3) What Does the Deposit Do? • A kitten is only officially reserved once we receive your deposit. • We follow a first-deposit, first-reserved system. • If multiple families are interested in the same kitten, the family who pays the deposit first will have priority. • Simply expressing interest without a deposit will not hold a kitten. 4) Is the Deposit Refundable? • Deposits are non-refundable, as we will stop showing the kitten to other families once it’s reserved. 5) What if I want to meet the kitten first? • Visiting does not guarantee the kitten will be held. • If you wish to secure the kitten before visiting, we kindly ask for the deposit first. • Without a deposit, we cannot promise the kitten will still be available at the time of your visit. 6) Changing or Canceling Your Reservation • If you change your mind after paying the deposit, the deposit will not be refunded. • If we are unable to provide the kitten due to health or unforeseen circumstances, we will assist you in selecting another suitable kitten. Gentle Reminder: A deposit is a commitment, both from you and from us. It ensures your kitten is lovingly held just for your family, and helps us provide the best preparation and care for their transition home. Thank you for your understanding and trust.

  • About Age: How do Ragdoll Grow ?
Q1. Is a 4-month-old Ragdoll still a kitten? Yes. A 4-month-old Ragdoll is still considered a kitten. Ragdolls are a slow-maturing breed and typically reach full development by around age 3. This stage is essential for shaping personality and health. About Home Temperature: Why is it important? Q2. How sensitive are kittens to temperature and temperature changes? Kittens have weaker temperature regulation. Ideal indoor temperature: 72°F–79°F (22°C–26°C). Sudden changes may cause sneezing, colds, or activate hidden viruses. Keep kittens warm after bathing, during travel, or in seasonal transitions. About Adjustment: What is normal during the first week? Q3. What issues might kittens face during the transition to a new home? Hiding, meowing, and reduced appetite are common stress responses. Diarrhea or soft stools may result from food changes, anxiety, or environmental shifts. Sneezing or watery eyes may occur due to climate sensitivity. Picky eating is normal — stick to original food, water, and litter. Clinginess indicates they are building trust and seeking security. About Support: How can you help your kitten settle? Q4. What should new owners pay attention to? Do not switch food or litter immediately — allow at least a 2-week transition. Prepare a warm, quiet space to help the kitten settle in. Avoid overstimulation or frequent handling — let the kitten approach at their own pace. Maintain stable indoor temperature and avoid direct airflow. Monitor eating, energy, and stool daily — consult your vet or breeder if issues persist. About Vaccines: Are they truly effective? Q5. Why do kittens need vaccines? What do vaccines cover? Are they 100% effective? Vaccines help kittens build foundational immunity. Core vaccines include FVRCP (feline distemper, herpesvirus, calicivirus) and Rabies (legally required in many regions). Vaccines are not 100% effective but drastically reduce disease severity and transmission. Kittens’ immune systems are still developing, so even after vaccination, stress or exposure can lead to mild symptoms. Vaccines build strong protection but are not a guarantee. Q6. After vaccination at 4 months, is my kitten fully protected from Herpesvirus and Calicivirus? Not exactly. While the FVRCP vaccine helps protect against Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) and Calicivirus (FCV), it does not guarantee full immunity: - Vaccines reduce the severity of symptoms and risk of spreading but cannot 100% prevent infection - Herpesvirus can remain latent and reactivate under stress or environmental changes - Calicivirus has multiple strains; the vaccine targets the most common ones Even after vaccination, kittens may experience mild symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes, or oral ulcers — this is considered a 'mild infection under protection.' Please do not worry excessively or feel anxious about vaccine limits. Understanding viruses and gentle care are the best ways to protect your kitten.

  • Why Should Kittens Be Protected from Temperature Changes and Fluctuations?
Why Should Kittens Be Protected from Temperature Changes and Fluctuations? 1. Kittens have immature thermoregulation systems Newborn and young kittens cannot regulate their body temperature effectively until several weeks after birth. They are much more vulnerable to both heat loss and overheating than adult cats. Source: Royal Canin – “Helping your kitten stay warm” https://www.royalcanin.com/us/cats/kitten/newborn-kittens-heat 2. Sudden temperature changes can lower immunity and trigger illness Exposure to cold drafts, air conditioning, or large day-night temperature differences can cause stress in kittens, lowering their immune response and making them more prone to upper respiratory infections (URI). Source: VCA Animal Hospitals – “Upper Respiratory Infections in Cats” https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/upper-respiratory-infection-in-cats 3. Kittens are more prone to hypothermia Due to their small size, thin fur, and low body fat, kittens lose heat rapidly and can become hypothermic even in mildly cool environments (such as rooms under 75°F). Source: ASPCA – “Newborn Kitten Care” https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/newborn-kitten-care 4. Temperature affects appetite, growth, and behavior Kittens exposed to environments that are too cold or with frequent temperature swings may exhibit signs such as decreased appetite, lethargy, or excessive sleep — all of which can affect growth and well-being. Source: PetMD – “How Cold Is Too Cold for Cats?” https://www.petmd.com/cat/general-health/how-cold-is-too-cold-for-cats • 出处来源: • VCA Animal Hospitals - Upper Respiratory Infection in Cats https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/upper-respiratory-infection-in-cats 3. • 出处来源: • PetMD - How Cold is Too Cold for Cats? https://www.petmd.com/cat/general-health/how-cold-is-too-cold-for-cats 以上来源均来自权威宠物医疗或护理机构,可靠性强
